Mr. Mitchell P. Lawrence, III has nearly 30 years experience in designing, developing and implementing domestic and overseas security and operational support to members of the Intelligence Community and DoD and their industry partners. He has worked for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), the Pentagon, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and the National Security Agency (NSA) in various security, operations, training and management fields as an employee (CIA and NSA) and a contractor (NRO and USD(I). He has extensive experience, knowledge and a unique background in all facets of government special security, including a broad network throughout government and industry.
Mr. Lawrence is currently employed at AT&T Government Solutions, Oakton, VA where he is Director, Government Solutions responsible for security management of contracts with IC agencies, SAP efforts and collateral programs. He leads/coordinates his security staff, located across the United States, assists Program Management as a member of the business team to secure and grow contracts with the Intelligence Community, and conducts Industry liaison to keep AT&T at the forefront of security leadership and remain current with security community issues. He is the current Chairman of the Industrial Security Working Group (ISWG), having been elected twice to that position by his peers comprising over 90 SCI companies.
Mr. Lawrence was an employee of Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSi), Chantilly, VA from 1992 to early 2004 and spent several years as the Vice President. He created security training and consulting as a profit center for SASSi and grew the number of security contracts from one to over 20, including outsourcing security, information systems security certification/oversight and management support; milestone achievements include gaining GSA, NRO and NSA contractor status within their respective acquisition mechanisms. While at SASSi, Mr. Lawrence was recognized as a leader in critical infrastructure protection, designing and presenting instruction as well as managing programs for various government agencies and companies since 1998, on information assurance, information warfare, DCID 6/3, certification and accreditation, risk management, etc. He led, designed, developed and conducted numerous security (and information systems security) training and consulting programs for, on behalf of, or with CIA, NRO, DSS, Navy, NGA, USD(I), the DCI Special Security Center (DSSC) and the Joint Security Training Consortium as well as major corporations, such as AT&T, CSC, SAIC, Booz-Allen-Hamilton, Hewlett-Packard, ITT, L3 Communications, and others.
Mr. Lawrence spent three years at the CIA in Langley, VA as a Management Generalist. He was a Certified Professional Instructor and supported operations as Chief of Support while overseas. Mr. Lawrence also spent 6 years at the NSA as a Security Manager. He has a Bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee in Political Science and a Masters degree from Eastern Michigan University in IT Security.
