Mrs. Deborah Russell Collins, Executive Director of the National Security Training Institute, has almost thirty years of experience in a wide array of fields to include training, organizational consulting, facilitation, and industrial security management. deedee is nationally recognized as an expert in the design and delivery of motivational security awareness programs throughout the intelligence community and has worked with a variety of clients throughout the US Government and industry. Her clients include DIA, NRO, CIA, NSA, DoD, DARPA, as well as several corporations. Prior to establishing her own consulting business, deedee was a senior manager with ESL/TRW for 15 years and responsible for new business development, community affairs, professional security staff training and development, security awareness and managing corporate security services.
In her consulting practice, deedee has teamed with Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSI) for the past twenty years to deliver some of the highest rated professional security officer training in the government and industry. deedee currently supports the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Special Security Center to provide professional development training for security officers throughout the intelligence community.
deedee is acknowledged as a leading expert in the area of workplace violence, having survived a shooting at her former employer ESL/TRW. She has delivered numerous presentations and worked with various government agencies and private corporations to establish programs to proactively confront this epidemic in our society. She has produced two videotapes for government agencies that are currently being disseminated world-wide on this subject.
deedee serves on the Defense and Intelligence Council of the American Society of Industrial Security (ASIS) and is a member of the Industrial Security Working Group. deedee is a past President of the National Classification Management Society (NCMS) and is active in several professional security organizations. She was presented the 2006 NCMS Presidential Award for sustained superb leadership within the industrial security community. She participated in the development of security awareness education and training standards for the National Industrial Security Program (NISP). deedee received her B.S. degree in Business Administration-Marketing and Management from Radford University and an M.S. degree in Human Resource Management and Development from Chapman College. Author of several articles on security management and co-author of the PERSEREC Security Awareness Training and Education (SATE) Desk Reference, deedee has considered it a privilege and joy to provide hundreds of presentations on a wide array of security topics before government and industry audiences throughout her career. She will be speaking throughout the country this year on topics to include “The 360-Degree Security Leader”, “Achieving Excellence in Security Management”, “Communicating Security for Success”, “Making the Most of Your Security Career”, and “Violence in the Workplace: Protecting Our People in Changing Times.”
As a volunteer, deedee serves as the Coordinator of Outreach Ministries at Immanuel Bible Church where she leads efforts to serve those in need in the community, particularly those in the inner city of Washington, D.C. In addition, she volunteers as a motivational speaker and facilitator for ministry conferences. deedee is married to retired naval aviator Buzz Collins, now a pilot with Southwest Airlines, and has two beautiful sons, Christopher and Michael, and resides in Fairfax Station, Virginia.
