Bruce M. Pomerleau

Mr. Bruce M. Pomerleau began his intelligence career in 1970 when he was commissioned as United States Army (USA) Counterintelligence Officer and served as a Branch Chief responsible for providing Personnel and Operational Security support to elements of the 66th Military Intelligence Group and VII Corps that were based in West Germany.

After completing his active duty commitment, Mr. Pomerleau joined the ranks of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and served in the Agency’s Office of Security (OS) for 26 years. Mr. Pomerleau began his CIA Security career as an Investigator in the Washington Field Office and went on to serve as Special Agent in Charge for the Boston and New York Field Offices. This assignment occurred during a time of dramatic change and Mr. Pomerleau played a major role in developing the blueprint for downsizing field activities.

During the mid 1990’s, Mr. Pomerleau became the Program Manager for the multi-million dollar replacement of the Agency’s outdated access control system that served as the genesis for integration of security systems at CIA facilities in the Metropolitan Washington, D. C. area. This highly successful project was done as a competitive procurement and became a case study for employees enrolled in the Agency’s Contracting Officer’s Technical Representative Certification Program.

In 1997, Mr. Pomerleau was selected to serve as Chief of the Security Management Staff for the National Reconnaissance Office’s (NRO) Director of Security. This assignment resulted in the first ever development of an NRO Security Strategic Plan linking budget resources to mission requirements.

In 1999, Mr. Pomerleau went on to become Chief of the NRO’s Personnel Security Division (PSD) leading a diverse global workforce of nearly 200 security professionals from CIA, military services, government civilians, and private industry to a position of pre-eminence in the Intelligence Community. During his tenure, NRO PSD was recognized by the Chairman of the President’s Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board as having the model Personnel Security Program in all of Government.

Since retiring after an intelligence career spanning nearly 30 years, Mr. Pomerleau has worked in the private sector as a project manager, consultant, instructor, and investigator for a number of contractors including Special Aerospace Security Services and the National Security Training Institute. Mr. Pomerleau is considered to be an expert in the field of Personnel Security Investigations and Adjudications.
